This 24-Hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response training course based upon the training requirements of 29 CFR 1920 (q) (6). This standard applies to workers involved in emergency response operations for releases of, or substantial threats of releases of, hazardous substances regardless of the location of the hazard.

PURPOSE OF THIS COURSE Employees who are engaged in responding to hazardous emergency situations at hazardous waste clean- up sites that may expose them to hazardous substances shall be trained in how to respond to such expected emergencies. 29 CFR 120 (q) (6) states that this training shall provide the Hazardous Materials Response Technician with: 1. Knowledge of the basic hazard and risk assessment techniques; 2. Know how to select and use proper personal protective equipment provided to the first responder operational level; 3.
